The gears (material 4130, Chinese Grade 40Cr), forged shafts (material 4140, Chinese grade 42CrMo) for American customers are finally finished and ready for shipment. Due to some small difficulties in the process of the project, which affected the delivery time, we feel sorry and regret. We hope that we can do better next time and provide customers around the world with better machining (including machining, welding, sheet metal processing, etc.) services.
First, the gears caused some troubles: at the beginning of the inquiry, the customer only sent some photos and gave some simple dimensions, such as diameter, thickness, number of teeth, etc., without formal processing drawings, and then urged for quotation. I can only ask the factory to give an estimate of the price and then give it to the customer. The customer later placed an order for me at this price。
After receiving the formal order, I asked for several necessary parameters and a basic drawing (because the previous parameters are far from enough for processing), such as module, helix angle, pressure angle, graduation circle diameter, and then I drew a formal processing drawing for the customer to confirm. When we took the drawing and asked the processing factory to make an official quotation, we realized that the gear module is inch module and relatively large (it is 16.993). Few domestic manufacturers have such a large inch module gear hob. Many processing factories said that they did not have such a large module gear hob and probably it has to be custom-made.
The second is that there are some problems in the processing of the large shaft. There are two large shafts in total, the diameter * length is 380 * 4300mm, and the material is forged 4140（which is equivalent to Chinese 42CrMo alloy steel.）The shaft shall be machined after forging. In the early stage, I found the supplier smoothly. The factory was in Wuxi, and it looked pretty good after visiting the factory. Then I placed the order with the factory in Wuxi. I always think that if everything goes well at the beginning, the later stage will not go well; if it doesn't go well at the beginning, the later stage will go well, which once again proves my "truth". First, the delivery time of the shaft was delayed for one week, after one week i was informed to go to inspection, as a result, the dimensional tolerance of one shaft exceeded the standard. I told the customer about this situation, customer agreed to mkae a new one, and the delivery time will be delayed for another two weeks. Two weeks later, we went to the inspection, everything was perfect.
This is a new customer. It doesn't matter if you lose money this time. To do business for a long time, we hope to provide machining services to customers around the world, including machining shaft, gear, welding structural parts, sheet metal parts and other processing services. We are willing to accept orders no matter in large quantities or in small quantities.
